Your new company
A leading utility-backed seaborne energy trader specialising in LNG, Coal and Freight with a platform to trade across all key markets (North America, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia), where you play a key part as an insurance specialist will support the Head of Legal & Compliance in all insurance matters affecting the Company and to ensure timely placement, renewals, reporting, and operation of insurance processes for the company
Your new role
- Compile monthly insurance declarations (LNG cargo, Coal cargo and ECL) and ensure that declarations are submitted to brokers / underwriters on a timely basis
- Compile claims records and ensure that such records are submitted to brokers / underwriters on a timely basis
- Ensure proper documentation and record of premium payments
- Assist in reviewing insurance policy terms, enhancements and endorsements
- Support insurance renewal process from preparation of renewal information, participation in renewal negotiations to policy placement
- Maintain insurance database to record details of policy coverage applicable to the Comp
- Assist in ad hoc insurance queries relating to LNG master sales and purchase agreements, contracts of use, charter parties, coal contracts / confirmations between internal stakeholders and brokers / underwriters to ensure terms and conditions agreed within the contracts are covered by existing insurance programmes available and propose wordings and/amendments to bring contractual liabilities under existing insurance covers
- Escalation of insurance claims (P&I, FD&D and cargo claims) to brokers / underwriters and may be required to handle early claim investigations. follow up on reimbursements from insurers immediately upon settlement and execute recourse actions, if any
What you'll need to succeed
- Knowledge of insurance market, claims and renewal process preferred
- Experience gained within an energy trading environment will be highly regarded. Preference will be given to someone who understands physical coal and LNG trading and drybulk transactions
- Familiarity with insurance terms and physical energy contract legal and shipping terms will be an advantage
- Experience of working directly with the trading and legal functions of an energy trading company
