My client is seeking a commercial-minded Strategic Innovation Manager to drive long-range, future-focused innovation activities across a wide range of industrial and specialty markets. This role is ideal for someone with strong commercial instincts who can identify emerging trends, evaluate long-term market opportunities, and translate them into actionable business concepts.
Your new role
Market & Opportunity Discovery
- Identify emerging trends across multiple industries (e.g., materials innovation, sustainability, specialty chemicals, environmental solutions).
- Identify new markets, unmet needs, and early‑stage opportunities that align with long‑term strategic directions.
- Analyze customer insights, regulatory shifts, and macro trends to anticipate future demand.
Strategic Innovation & Business Concept Development
- Translate high‑level market insights into concrete innovation themes and business opportunities.
- Develop structured business cases assessing customer desirability, commercial viability, and strategic fit.
- Prioritize opportunities based on scalability, competitive advantage, and long‑term value creation.
Customer & Partner Engagement
- Engage customers, industry partners, distributors, and solution providers to validate emerging needs.
- Build relationships with startups, research institutes, technology accelerators, and other external stakeholders.
- Support early pilot activities, co‑creation discussions, and proof‑of‑value explorations with customers.
Cross‑Functional & Global Collaboration
- Work closely with global innovation, marketing, strategy, and product teams to ensure alignment on opportunity direction.
- Prepare and deliver pitches, presentations, and insights to senior leadership.
- Support the transition of validated concepts into product development or commercial pipelines.
Strategic Contribution & Portfolio Insight
- Support long‑term innovation roadmap development.
- Provide transparency across global and regional innovation activities.
- Monitor industry movements, competitive signals, and technology developments across multiple sectors.
What you'll need to succeed
- Degree/ Master's in Engineering, Natural Sciences, Business, Sustainability, or related fields.
- Experienced in commercial strategy, product management, and innovation within materials, chemicals, environmental solutions, agriculture, construction, or related industries.
- 5 years of experience in commercially driven or cross-functional roles.
- Effective communicator capable of influencing cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with entrepreneurial mindset.
